Bay City, MI: The Tri-City ICEHAWKS would try to make it two SWEEPS in a row as they went on the road for the first time this season to face their opponent the Motor City Hawks from Grosse Pointe, MI in a USPHL Eastern Conference match up.

On Friday night the ICEHAWKS would strike first making it 1-0 with veteran defenseman Addison Collins (Twinsburgh, OH) scoring his first goal of the 2015-2016 season at the 13:01 mark of the 1st period.  The ICEHAWKS would not wait long to make it 2-0 as veteran defenseman Krisjanis Reinfelds ( Riga, LVA) would also net his first goal of the young season at 13:37 of the 1st period to make it 2-0 ICEHAWKS assisted by Addison Edwards & rookie Cameron Smith.  The Motor City Hawks would score their first goal of the contest at the 17:47 of the 1st period to make it 2-1.

In the 2nd period it would be all ICEHAWKS as they would get goals from forward Sam Hanson (Anchorgae, AK) at the 4:14 mark his second goal of the season to make it 3-1 assisted by rookie forward Matteo Ybarra.  That assist would just start the evening for Matteo Ybarra (Rochester Hills, MI) as he would score his first ever Junior Hockey League goal at the 8:35 mark of the 2nd period assisted by Cameron Smith and Benito Posa.  Ybarra would also end up scoring the 7th goal in this contest to end the game with a total of 5 points.  Rookie forward Cameron Smith (Grand Blanc, MI) would also score his first ever Junior Hockey goal at the 12:05 mark of the 2nd period making it 5-1 ICEHAWKS assisted by Matteo Ybarra & Benito Posa.  Benito Posa (Grand Blanc, MI) would score his 4th goal of the season making it 6-1 ICEHAWKS assisted by Matteo Ybarra & Addison Collins winning game One of this weekend series.  After the game Head Coach George Daniel had this to say.  “This young 99 birth year line of Posa, Ybarra & Cameron Smith is a pleasure to watch.”  They played hard all game and they played together.  We knew when we got these young men that they would be good and fun to watch this season and they proved that this tonight.  Coach Daniel has also been very impressed with the play of starting goalie Cody Foster (Saugus, CA) this season as he would get another win in the USPHL Eastern Division to take his record to 3-1 facing 20 shots in this contest only allowing 1 goal.

On Saturday evening the ICEHAWKS and HAWKS would meet again.  This game would not be easy for either team.  The ICEHAWKS would open up the scoring at the 3:47 mark of the first period as forward Austin Caryl (Ann Arbo, MI) would light the lamp scoring an even strength goal to make it 1-0 ICEHAWKS with the goal being assisted by line mates  C.J. Bradburn (Ann Arbor, MI) and Mark Mezsargs (Riga, LVA).  In the second period at the 5:32 mark the Motor City Hawks would answer to tie the game at 1-1.  Austin Caryl would then score his second of the evening at the 14:42 mark of the second period to make it 2-1 ICEHAWKS.  It would not take long after that for forward John Matson (Anchorage, AK) to score a power play goal to make it 3-1 ICEHAWKS.  There would be one lone goal scored in the third period by defenseman Logan Gatza (Frankenmuth, MI) from the top of the circles to put this game out of reach and complete the sweep of the Motor City Hawks with Cody Foster (Saugus) getting the win in this contest as well to move his record to 4-1 for the very young season..

The Tri-City ICEHAWKS will take their USPHL Eastern Conference 1st place record of 6-1 on the road this coming weekend & travel to Northern, Michigan where they will take on the Marquette Royales in an Eastern Conference match up at Lakeview Arena.  Game times are as follows Friday 10/9/2015 at 7:30pm & Saturday 10/10/2015 also at 7:30pm.
